Global Technology & Operations

00:03 So my name is Nidhi and I work for Bank of America Merrill Lynch.
00:07 I am an analyst. I graduated last year so it’s been about a year since I’ve been working at this firm.
00:13 And analysts can do a bunch of different things depending on where you are, what division you work for. All divisions will have an analyst, it’s just what you start with when you finish university and start at a firm like this. So for me that means working in technology, working in global markets and operations technology and I basically make life a lot easier for operations by kind of automating some, some of their processes so I look at emails coming in using some of the latest technology that we’ve got like be it robotics, machine learning.
00:49 My internship I did here last year which was a 10 week programme where I actually got to work with a team and take part in a realistic project as opposed to just coming in for a day you know, speaking to people or trying to understand and interpret what life would be like. It gave me a real taste as to what work is really like at Bank of America and I think that really helped me out, that’s when I knew I really do want to work in a place like this. The people are really supportive, really diverse.
01:15 At university picking what you really want to do will make such a difference because although my parents were a little bit hesitant when I told them about physics they knew that in the end this is what I enjoy and therefore this is what I’d be able to do my best in.
01:29 The thing that motivates me a lot in the end of the day is just delivering something with a team but it’s not so much about the end product it’s about the journey. Every single day is a challenge a work. Everything is very new and every day I come in faced with a different challenge and I’m forced to think in a different way which I think is what really gets me out of bed and makes me come into work.
